You are a Pastor; Do I have to be a Christian?
No. I inform you that I am a pastor, because I desire to be transparent. I feel it is my ethical duty to bring you information that is needed for you to make the best possible decision for your needs. If you are not a person of faith, I will bring you my best.
What if we are struggling, but no one has been in a traumatic event? Should we come to see you?
Great question! I focus on those that are traumatized, or in crisis, or stressed out. If you or your family finds themselves in a chaotic state of revolving mess, I am a great fit for you. If you personally are in life transitions, or someone in your family is in life transition, and there is acute or chronic stress coupled with confusion, despair, hopelessness, I am a great fit for you. Often, families cannot identify a traumatic event.
Do you provide couples counseling?
I do. Typically, my wife joins me when available! We focus on those who are pre-marriage and married. No more than 7 sessions!
Pre-marriage, I will use Prepare/Enrich and asked some really tough questions. You need to know that I am looking to test the structure of the relationship. I do not believe that there is a perfect relationship and everything will be great once you find that specific someone.
Marriage maintenance is check-up scenario. We will use Prepare/Enrich. I will share with you what I am noticing in our sessions. Typically, It will be something that is causing a ping on my radar. I will offer it to you as an “I wonder why, I am feeling this way when you say or do _________? I will provide skills and a format during the process. Again, this is a brief and limited amount of sessions. If you feel that there is a much deeper issue, I will make a referral out to a trusted therapist to walk the rest of the journey out with you.
What if I come to see you, and you are not a great fit?
No worries, I have relationships and knowledge with other practices. I can make a few referrals for you to get you to a great fit. My goal is the best possible help for you.

Why shouldn’t I just take medication?
Medication alone cannot solve all issues. What medication does is treat the symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals.
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication are crucial to your success. After all, we only see each other for a session a week. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions that will really help you see your personal growth and development.
What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?
The difference is between someone who can do something and someone who has the training and experience to actually help. A licensed professional has reached the highest level of licensure in their field. It is that training that will help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Lastly, sharing your issues with a friend may cause unwanted judgments against others or yourself. Therapy is unbiased and completely confidential.
